The NEBOSH International Oil and Gas Certificate covers one main unit (IOG1) entitled ‘Management of International Oil & Gas Operational Safety’.

Assessment of the NEBOSH International Oil & Gas Certificate

Students have to appear for a 2-hour written examination. This consists of a 10 short-answer, 8-mark compulsory questions, 1 long-answer and a 20-mark mandatory question. It is necessary to answer all the questions. NEBOSH appoints competent external examiners who assess the exam papers.

The final certificate will be issued on successful completion of the qualification.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this NEBOSH qualification, but we do recommend that candidates have an underpinning knowledge of safety issues. This can be achieved by studying a NEBOSH General Certificate level qualification.

In addition, NEBOSH recommends that the students get an IELTS score of 6.0 or higher in the IELTS tests.

Duration of the NEBOSH IOGC

In order to complete all five elements of the course, students will have 54 hours in total to study. However, classroom training will comprise of 34 hours of tutor-based training along with 20 hours of private study.

Examination Entry Confirmation

Once we have registered you for the NEBOSH IOGC exam, we will send you an examination entry confirmation which will include your student number. Please note that the student number is the only identification that you may use on your exam scripts. The scripts cannot include your name.

The Examination Entry Confirmation is important to gain entrance to the exam room. Furthermore, you will need to show some form of photographic identification to the invigilator and then sign the Examination Entry Confirmation.

Standard exam sittings are held four times a year in March, June, September and December as mentioned below:

Examination Results

All results for assessments taken in English must be received within 50 working days from the date of the exam or submission of the assignment. Also, the examination entry confirmation mentions the specific date.

For assessments done in any language other than English, all the results (including those for the practical application) must be received within 70 working days.
